Aesop SKM Tainan

The reopened Aesop counter within SKM Tainan explores the language of domestic Tainanese interiors through a contemporary lens. Designed by the company’s in-house team, the space is of considered efficiency, simple paneling, methodical tiling, and no-frills furnishing.

Locally made tiles in a burnt sienna hue clad the walls—their glazed surface reflects light around the room. Underfoot, unglazed terracotta tiles contribute a tonal and textural shift. A dialogue between new and old is conducted between a shared basin built into the tiled counter and a lone, vintage basin set into the cabinetry.
